Croatia's Democratic Union party wins parliamentary elections
The Croatian election commission states that voter turnout scored 61.9%, as data from the official website of the election commission shows that the HDZ coalition won 60 seats.
The Croatian Democratic Union party (HDZ) run by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has won the parliamentary election as victory came before 100% of the ballots were processed.
The parliamentary election on Wednesday was held to elect 151 members of the 11th assembly of Croatia's Sabor.
Plenkovic said, "First of all, allow me at the end of this election night to thank all our voters, all fellow citizens who participated in this election to the Croatian Sabor, which, thanks to [the decision of President Zoran] Milanovic, was held on this ridiculous day, Wednesday, to allegedly contribute to the Croatian GDP, help education, healthcare, and other areas."
"What is important is that the HDZ has a convincing victory in the parliamentary election for the third time in a row," he added on Wednesday.

Data from the official website of the election commission shows - after 94.42% of the ballots were counted - the HDZ coalition won 60 seats, as the largest opposition Social Democratic Party won 42 seats, the Homeland Movement party won 14 seats, the Most (Bridge) party won 11 seats, We Can! – Political Platform won 10 seats, the Istrian Democratic Assembly won 3 seats, the Nezavisna Platforma Sjever (Independent Platform North) party won 2 seats, leaving the Focus party with one seat.
According to the commission, turnout in the election was 61.9%.
