Cuba strongly condemns assassination of IRGC Colonel Khodaei
The Director General of Bilateral Affairs in the Cuban FM says Khodaei's assassination constitutes a threat to peace and security in the Middle East.
Cuba has expressed its condemnation of the assassination of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodaei in Tehran.
Emilio Lozada, the Director General of Bilateral Affairs in the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that his country condemns selective assassinations, such as those that took place recently in Iran against the IRGC.
Lozada considered that such actions constitute a threat to peace and security in the Middle East.
The IRGC confirmed Sunday that one of its officers, Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, was assassinated in front of his house in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
In a statement, the IRGC indicated that Khodaei was martyred with five bullets shot by two terrorists on a motorcycle, adding that necessary actions are underway to arrest the perpetrators.
The IRGC considered that the assassination of Colonel Khodaei was carried out by the enemies of the revolution and elements linked to the "global arrogance".
On his part, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that "revenge for the blood of the martyr Sayyad Khadaei is certain."
Similarly, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh underscored that "the inhumane crime was committed by anti-revolutionary terrorists backed by the powers of global arrogance, and they are supported by countries championing counterterrorism."
Khatibzadeh also underlined that Iran has been the victim of terrorism for more than four decades, noting that the terrorists were trying to obstruct the Iranian people from moving toward "realizing their righteous ideals and maintaining their glorious path."
