The DPRK condemned US, South Korea, and Japan for fabricating a "cyber threat theory" to justify hostile actions, warning that such provocations threaten its sovereignty and deepen distrust.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has accused Washington, Seoul, and Tokyo of intensifying hostile acts by extending their military bloc into cyberspace.
Kim Chon Il, head of the Press and Information Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued a statement Monday via KCNA exposing an orchestrated campaign to slander the DPRK and undermine its sovereignty.
"The US, Japan and the ROK [South Korea] are expanding their provocative acts to a new domain with an aim to systematize and institutionalize the collective collaboration to put pressure on a sovereign state and aggravate geopolitical confrontation," Kim said.
He rejected the so-called cyber threat allegations as baseless fabrications. "The tripartite confab of the hostile forces is a political farce to tarnish the image of the DPRK and embellish the moves for collaboration to put pressure on the DPRK by building up world public opinion about the groundless 'cyber threat theory,'" he declared.
The DPRK noted that these maneuvers are designed to transform cyberspace into yet another battlefield of confrontation, threatening the country's legitimate security interests. Kim stressed that every such step by the US and its "satellite countries" only deepens distrust and enmity.
Cyber Sovereignty
This response follows a string of provocations: the US, South Korea, and Japan included the "North Korean cyber threat" on the agenda at the Munich Security Conference, imposed sanctions on DPRK IT specialists, and issued joint statements amplifying false narratives. Furthermore, their annual Ulchi Freedom Shield war exercises, conducted this year between August 18 and 28, expanded to include cyber warfare drills, an act Pyongyang views as a direct rehearsal for aggression.
The DPRK maintains that it will not be intimidated by fabricated accusations and hostile pressure. Instead, it insists that its sovereign rights must be respected and that attempts to weaponize cyberspace against it will only strengthen its resolve.
