DPRK parades nuclear capabilities; 'US has no room for survival'
The DPRK held a victory parade in the presence of Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu and high-ranking Chinese official Li Hongzhong.
The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong UN, oversaw a military parade that featured brand new drones and Korean People's Army's intercontinental ballistic missiles, the Korean Central News Agency reported on Friday.
The parade saw at least four new military drones that were towed on trailers through the Kim II Sung Square in Pyongyang, as another drone flew overhead.
The Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the Chinese and the high-ranking official and member Politburo of the Communist Party of China, Li Hongzhong, were in attendance, as thousands of Korean soldiers marched through the square followed by trucks carrying the country's strategic ICBMs.
The DPRK held the event in celebration of the 70th anniversary of its victory in the Fatherland Liberation War, in which the country was able to withstand attacks from the US-led coalition in the 1950s.
To mark the occasion, the Minister of National Defense, Kang Sun Nam, made a speech in which he congratulated the Korean people for their victory over the US-led coalition.
Later, Kang bashed "the U.S. imperialist warmongers and the group of traitor Yoon Suk Yeol" who "continue to play dangerous war games that may incite an unprecedented nuclear war in the Korean peninsula, with the use of their military muscle against the DPRK while advocating their megalomaniacal 'logic of strength' even at this moment."
The official pointed to the "reckless" remarks made by the South Korean Ministry of Defense who vowed to end the DPRK earlier, saying that "the US imperialists have no room of choice of survival in case they use nuclear weapons against the DPRK."
The Minister added that "if the United States of America attempts to use armed forces against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the former will face unimaginable and unforeseen crisis."
The KPA featured various weapons, including weapons that have been unveiled for the first time at a defense exhibition on Wednesday.
The country celebrated its new underwater nuclear attack drone, "Haeil", as well as newly developed "strategic reconnaissance drones and multi-purpose attack drones," which made flights above the parade, KCNA reported.
The DPRK paraded its newest nuclear-capable ICBM, the Hwasong-18 solid-fuel missile, which could be considered the KPA's most crucial strategic weapon, amid increasing US and South Korean hostilities.
Furthermore, KCNA reported that Russian Minister Shoigu and Chairman Kim discussed the development of tactical and strategic defense cooperation between the two counties.
During the meeting, Kim referred to Pyongyang's "judgment and principled stand on the rapidly changing international security environment and the military and political situation of the Korean peninsula" and exchanged ideas with Shoigu.
The officials "discussed some issues arising in further developing the strategic and tactical collaboration and cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense and security," KCNA reported.
