Egypt El-Sisi orders the 'cleaning of North Sinai from terrorism'
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi orders law enforcement officials to complete the cleaning of some areas in North Sinai from "terrorist units."
After his meeting with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed law enforcement agents to complete the cleaning of some areas in North Sinai from "terrorist units."
In the wake of a terrorist attack in western Sinai that killed 11 soldiers, El-Sisi headed a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces, amid widespread international and Arab condemnation of the attack.
A statement issued by the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, Bassam Rady, said that after his meeting with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, El-Sisi directed law enforcement agents to complete the cleaning of some areas in North Sinai from terrorist units.
He added that El-Sisi ordered all necessary security measures be implemented to eliminate terrorism in all its forms.
Yesterday, on Saturday, the Egyptian armed forces announced that a terrorist attack on a water pumping station in the east of the Suez Canal was thwarted, while the armed confrontation between the attackers and the army resulted in the killing of an officer and 10 soldiers while wounding others.
