During an address in London, Elon Musk called for a "dissolution of parliament" and a "change of government" in the UK while speaking at a "Unite the Kingdom" rally that was organized by the far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who is known as Tommy Robinson.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, who dialled in via a video link with Robinson, while thousands watched and listened, railed against the "woke mind virus" and told the crowd that "violence is coming" and that "you either fight back or you die".

“I really think that there’s got to be a change of government in Britain. You can’t – we don’t have another four years, or whenever the next election is, it’s too long," Musk stated, adding, “Something’s got to be done. There’s got to be a dissolution of parliament and a new vote held.”
“My appeal is to British common sense, which is to look carefully around you and say: ‘If this continues, what world will you be living in?’" Musk asked the rally in Central London, directing his message toward what he described as reasonable, centrist individuals who typically avoid political involvement, stating that these people do not desire conflict and prefer to go about their business undisturbed.
Musk resorts to fearmongering
“My message is to them: if this continues, that violence is going to come to you, you will have no choice. You’re in a fundamental situation here," adding, “Whether you choose violence or not, violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die, that’s the truth, I think.”
Elon Musk asserted that significant violence originates from the left, claiming that Charlie Kirk had been murdered in cold blood that week and that people on the left were openly celebrating his death, which led him to label the left as the party of murder and the celebration of murder. He urged his audience to contemplate the gravity of dealing with such a group.
He also criticized what he termed the woke mind virus, arguing that decisions for advancement should be based on merit rather than discrimination based on sex, religion, race, or any other factor. He stated that a lot of woke ideology is actually super-racist and super-sexist while also being anti-religion, specifically anti-Christian, which he found unfair, concluding that the woke mind virus stands against the principle of merit being all that matters.
Musk interferes in UK politics
This is not the first instance of Elon Musk involving himself in British politics, as he previously started a war of words with the UK government over the issue of grooming gangs and also criticized the Online Safety Act of 2023, which he characterized as a threat to free speech.
Elon Musk had maintained a warm relationship with Nigel Farage, and there were even rumors that he could channel a donation to his party before the Tesla boss called for the Reform UK leader to be replaced during a dispute over Farage's support for Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson.
According to a recent Opinium poll conducted for The Observer in January 2025, more than half of UK voters think Elon Musk is having a detrimental influence on British politics following his criticisms of both Keir Starmer and Nigel Farage.
According to Opinium’s findings, 53% of voters believe Musk is harming British politics compared to just 12% who see his influence as positive, and specifically regarding his comments on grooming gangs, 47% considered his remarks unhelpful while 26% disagreed.
Reform UK supporters were dissatisfied with Elon Musk's suggestion that Nigel Farage step down as party leader, as a significant 71% of respondents felt Farage was the best leader for the party at that time.
