The entire flotilla will proceed towards Gaza, a member of the Global Sumud Flotilla coordination committee, Ghassan Hinshiri, confirmed to Al Mayadeen on Saturday, noting that this decision was made "collectively".
Hinshiri clarified that the 450 participants aboard the ships will continue their course toward Gaza with the goal of breaking the siege and delivering aid.
On Friday, activist Wael Nawar, a participant in the Global Sumud Flotilla, announced that the ships had set sail from the Greek island of Crete, headed for the Gaza Strip, and are expected to arrive early next week.
Warnings of imminent attacks
This announcement comes despite numerous attempts by "Israel" to stop the flotilla, including harassment with drones and direct attacks on boats belonging to the flotilla.
Early on September 25, the organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla confirmed that several governments have warned their citizen participants of an "imminent Israeli attack".
On September 24, activists aboard the Libyan Omar al-Mukhtar hospital ship reported that three drones flew overhead in what they described as an apparent surveillance operation.
The Global Sumud Flotilla announced at the time it was targeted by twelve drone attacks that impacted nine of its vessels, an escalation described by organizers as dangerous and unprecedented.
A coordinator for the GSF, Wael Nawwar, stated that the initial attacks targeted four vessels with sound bombs without causing any injuries, though the organization later reported that a total of twelve attacks were recorded, impacting nine vessels.
