Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Egypt on October 13 to participate in the so-called Gaza peace summit hosted in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, the Turkish presidential administration announced on Sunday.
The summit, confirmed a day earlier by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s office, will gather leaders from more than 20 countries and will be co-chaired by el-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
Burhanettin Duran, head of communications for the Turkish presidency, said Erdogan would attend in response to a formal invitation from both el-Sisi and Donald Trump.
The summit will focus on the implementation of a ceasefire agreement recently reached between "Israel" and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“Our country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in response to the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, will visit Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13, 2025, to participate in the ‘Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit,’ which will be dedicated to the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza,” Duran stated.
Erdogan is also expected to deliver a speech and engage in bilateral discussions with other heads of state in attendance.

Ceasefire agreement sets first steps for peace plan
The summit follows an announcement by Trump on Thursday that a phased ceasefire had been agreed upon between "Israel" and Hamas as part of a broader initiative to de-escalate the conflict in Gaza.
In the first stage of the agreement, Hamas is expected to release "Israeli" hostages, while "Israel" will reposition its forces to a predetermined line within the Strip and release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, including many serving life sentences.
Unveiled on September 29, Trump’s plan for Gaza includes a 20-point framework. Key provisions include:
- An immediate ceasefire tied to a 72-hour timeline for the release of hostages
- A ban on Hamas and other Palestinian groups participating in governance
- The establishment of a technocratic authority to manage Gaza under international supervision
- Oversight of the transition led personally by Donald Trump
While the proposal has sparked international debate, it is expected to dominate the agenda at the Gaza peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Prior to the Summit, Qatar's delegation suffered a fatal crash in Sharm El-Sheikh after the driver transporting the diplomats lost control of the steering wheel. The crash resulted in the death of three Qatari nationals and the injury of two others.
