According to a recent statement from Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, the number of Palestinian victims of Israeli starvation in the Gaza Strip is expected to rise, particularly among the elderly and children. "Israel" is employing famine as a weapon in its genocidal assault against the Gazan people.

The Telegraph previously reported that the UN declared half a million Gazans are facing  "catastrophic conditions" which means that people are experiencing “extreme food gaps and collapse of their livelihood."

"Israel's" use of starvation as a weapon of war has resulted in an alarming situation where the vast majority of people worldwide experiencing famine are located in Gaza, as indicated by a recent report by the UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), Truthout highlighted.

According to the organization, the increasing risk of famine in Gaza is associated with reduced health services, lack of nutrition and food security, a rise in the number of fatalities caused by infectious illnesses, and a severe lack of access to basic water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

A baby boy named Jamal Mahmoud Jamal al-Kafarna, who was born in August 2023 in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, recently died of starvation on January 18 along with his mother.

Jamal's grandmother, Samah Youssef al-Kafarna, told the Euro-Med Monitor crew that dehydration from lack of food caused his mother to no longer be able to breastfeed him. Infant formula is extremely scarce, and his mother began to drink salt water, which led her to lose her milk.

Previously, Euro-Med reported that the city of Gaza and the northern Gaza Strip are facing a horrific tragedy due to the catastrophic shortage of drinking water. The Israeli occupation has destroyed all local water sources and denied Palestinian people in Gaza access to external sources. This act, according to Euro-Med, constitutes an actual death sentence.

"Palestinian deaths constitute the highest rate of civilian casualties worldwide in the 21st century," according to the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.

Gaza Massacres: Dozens killed as IOF strike civilians, aid lines

A one-and-a-half-year-old in Gaza starved to death on December 30 of last year as well, according to Euro-Med Monitor.

The organization has received testimony that several elderly Gazans have also died of dehydration, including Samira Abu Barbar, 59, Issam al-Najjar, 63, and Jawda Zidane Shaker al-Agha, 81.

Jana Deeb Qudeih, a girl with cerebral palsy, died on December 8 from a lack of food and oxygen.

Euro-Med Monitor emphasized that the Israeli occupation has ignored United Nations Security Council Resolution 2720, which calls for increased humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.

"'Israel' continues to use starvation as a weapon of war in the Gaza Strip and targeting aid workers—who should never be targeted—despite the UN Security Council resolution and numerous UN warnings, the group reported.

IOF target Gazans in queues waiting for aid, commit new massacre

Israeli occupation forces committed a new massacre earlier today after targeting an area where thousands of Palestinians were waiting to receive aid at the Kuwait roundabout, south of the city of Gaza.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, this resulted in 20 martyrs and the injury of 150 people in a nonfinal toll. The Ministry estimated that the number of casualties would rise.

Before the start of the war on Gaza, 500 trucks on average entered the Strip. But today, due to the months-long siege on the Strip, even this amount will not be close enough to meet the people's basic needs, as confirmed by the United Nations.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza confirmed that the Israeli occupation is only allowing the entry of no more than a hundred aid trucks per day. According to the UN, this does not even cover a fraction of the daily needs of civilians, currently facing famine and spreading infectious diseases.
