Everything boils down to lack of justice for Palestinians: China
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi describes the unfolding situation in the region as primarily rooted in the absence of justice for the Palestinian people.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has attributed the rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East to a lack of justice for the Palestinian people.
During a phone conversation with Celso Amorim, the chief advisor of Brazil’s presidency, Beijing's top diplomat said, “The crux of the matter is that justice has not been done to the Palestinian people."
The call occurred shortly before the United Nations Security Council convened an urgent session on Friday to address the Israeli aggression. Brazil, a non-permanent member, is currently presiding over the council's proceedings for this month.
“The United Nations has the responsibility and obligation to play its due role on the Palestinian question,” he said.
Wang added that Beijing “clearly calls for practical measures for a cease-fire, an end to violence, protection of civilians, and the formation of a binding international consensus.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Wang called upon all Middle Eastern parties to exercise self-restraint to avoid further intensification, saying, “China opposes acts that harm civilians and condemns violations of international law." He emphasized that the United Nations has an obligation and a responsibility to be involved in the Palestinian cause, and China is prepared to collaborate closely with different parties, including Brazil.
“The top priority is to ensure the safety of civilians and open corridors for aid to avoid a serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” he said.
While the West expressed strong support for "Israel" in the wake of its ongoing aggression on Gaza, Beijing adopted a relatively impartial stance. China lamented the loss of civilian lives, calling for an immediate halt to hostilities and reiterated its endorsement of a "two-state solution", aiming to establish an autonomous Palestinian state.
However, Wang's statement regarding China's perspective on the underlying issue seemed to indicate a more firm stance, particularly in light of the intense Israeli aerial bombardment of Gaza and discussions of a potential ground invasion.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin, on Thursday, told journalists that "the Palestinian-Israeli conflict keeps repeating for a fundamental reason: The Middle East peace process has been off the right track, the foundation of the two-state solution has been continuously eroded, and relevant U.N. resolutions are not followed through in good faith."
Israeli and Western media seem to have focused on non-existent footage that alleges #Palestinian Resistance beheading Israeli babies.

Wang's words come as "Israel" is committing genocide in Gaza, with over 1,900 Palestinians killed, including 614 children, and 7,696 injured, including 2,000 children and 1,400 women, since the beginning of the Israeli occupation's aggression on Gaza. In the past 24 hours alone, 256 were martyred, including 20 children, and 1,788 were wounded, as reported by Al Mayadeen's correspondent.
