Reliable sources denied to Al Mayadeen reports being circulated by some news agencies that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps has scaled back deployment of their senior officers in Syria due to a spate of deadly Israeli strikes.

The same sources affirmed that Iranian advisors ” have been asked to remain in Syria, but without their families."

These rumors coincide with a misinformation campaign amid the ongoing aggressive Israeli attacks on Syria, specifically targeting senior IRGC commanders.

On January 20, the IRGC announced in a statement that five Iranian military advisors were killed in the Israeli aggression on Damascus. Iranian media reported that the IRGC's intelligence advisor in Syria and his assistant were killed in the attack.

The IRGC named its martyred advisors as Hojjatollah Omidvar, Ali Aqazadeh, Hossein Mohammadi, Saeed Karimi, and Mohammad Amin Samadi.

Not an isolated incident

On December 25, Senior Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Seyyed Razi Mousavi was martyred in an Israeli airstrike on Syria's Damascus.

Seyyed Mousavi was one of the oldest IRGC commanders in Syria and he was close to the commander of the IRGC's elite Quds Force, martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

The Iranian commander was martyred after the Israeli occupation launched three missiles at his location in the suburbs of the Syrian capital of Damascus, as reported by an Al Mayadeen correspondent.

He exerted exemplary efforts in the fight against ISIS in Syria during his lengthy participation in combatting terrorism throughout the West Asia region.

It is worth noting that "Tel Aviv" has intensified its longstanding air strike campaign on Syria since the beginning of its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
