Exclusive: Yemen reveals circumstances of IED explosions in Sanaa
Yemeni interior ministry spokesperson Brigadier-General Abdul Khaliq al-Ajari tells Al Mayadeen two people carrying IEDs were killed in Sanaa.
Two people carrying IEDs have been killed in Sanaa, and the explosive devices detonated while they were on their person, injuring more than five people, according to an initial tally, Yemeni Internal Affairs Ministry spokesperson Abdul Khaliq al-Ajari told Al Mayadeen on Monday.
"The two IEDs exploded while on the two men after they got off their motorcycle before a hotel in southern Sanaa, causing them to die on scene," Brigadier-General al-Ajari added.
According to the top security official, investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the incident and the motives behind the attack.
Earlier today, Saba News Agency quoted a Yemeni security source as saying the security apparatuses would reveal Tuesday a security operation that thwarted a criminal plan directed by the Saudi intelligence.
"The plan was going to target the capital, Sanaa, and several governorates with a number of Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices," the source added to the Yemeni news agency.
