Exclusive: Yemeni Armed forces achieved a great victory in Haradh
Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen accuses the coalition countries of impeding the FSO Safer unloading.
Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, member of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, commented on the developments on the ground in Haradh city by saying: “We won great victories, and some developments have not been announced yet”
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Al-Houthi tackled the peace initiative presented to the Russian ambassador to Yemen, stressing that "it is the right time to talk about this initiative."
Concerning the UN-led Yemeni dialogue, Al-Houthi stated that the Ansar Allah movement received an "initiative from the UN, which we reviewed," adding that the Leader of the Yemeni Ansar Allah Movement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, approved it in its final form and "sent it to the negotiating delegation."
On the FSO Safer crisis, Al-Houthi stressed that hat Saudi Arabia is trying to leverage the blockade to prevent maintenance on the tanker, in an attempt to further blackmail the Yemeni government.
Furthermore, He warned of an impending environmental disaster in the Red Sea.
“FSO Safer is a timed bomb that can explode at any moment.”
It is worth mentioning that Yemen's government has constantly expressed disappointment with the UN for its disregard of its commitments to FSO Safer, and its attempts to back out of the execution of the immediate maintenance agreement.
FSO Safer is docked at sea, north of Al-Hudaydah, and can store close to 1.1 million barrels of crude oil. Its lack of maintenance since 2014 led to water flooding the engine room, leading the Yemeni government to ask for UN aid to help with its maintenance.
Since the tanker has not been maintained since 2015, the crude oil stored on the ship risks leaking.
