The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headed Sunday to the Wata al-Khaim area in southern Lebanon to investigate the fate of 20 missing individuals, including women and children, amid the repeated incursions by the Israeli occupation forces into the area.

According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent, residents of the southern town of al-Wazzani managed to retrieve the bodies of five martyrs out of the 20 missing in Wata al-Khiam.

UNIFIL, along with teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Lebanese Red Cross, will work to recover the remaining bodies of the martyrs from under the rubble with the assistance of a bulldozer.

Our correspondent further noted that upon reaching Wata al-Khiam, it became evident that there were no longer any Israeli soldiers in the area.

Last week, Israeli occupation forces targeted a house that was sheltering two families in Wata al-Khiam as they attempted to infiltrate the town before being forced to retreat under Hezbollah fire.

Earlier, Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) confirmed that rescue and emergency teams had been unable to reach the targeted location due to security conditions, despite numerous efforts and pleas to the authorities and international humanitarian organizations to facilitate their evacuation.

The occupation's air force launched a raid on the Hermel border area with Syria and another in the vicinity of the town of Akroum in the Akkar border area as well.

In the South, Al Mayadeen's correspondent confirmed that two were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on the city of Nabatieh earlier today. Moreover, the occupation aircraft launched two airstrikes on the Litani River on the outskirts of the town of Blat.

Israeli warplanes also launched an airstrike targeting the town of Shawkin in the Nabatieh district, as well as another strike in the area between the al-Maslakh and al-Salhiya neighborhoods.

An Israeli drone carried out a strike with a guided missile targeting the area between the towns of Abba and al-Douweir.

Further strikes hit the town of Halousiyeh, in addition to an airstrike targeting the town of Haris in the Bent Jbeil district, resulting in casualties.

Our correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes have also bombed the Shebaa area and renewed their strikes on the city of Khiam.

Additionally, it was noted that Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier several times over various Lebanese regions.

On its part, the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health released its daily report on the toll and repercussions of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

The report stated that Israeli airstrikes on Friday, November 1, 2024, resulted in 71 martyrs and 169 injuries.
