In the early morning hours on Wednesday, five people were killed in a US airstrike on Jurf al-Nasr, a small town to the southwest of Baghdad, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.

The US forces previously said in a statement to Reuters that two facilities were targeted in Iraq, as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq resumes operations against US forces in Iraq and Syria in light of the ongoing genocide "Israel" is committing in Gaza.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq also targeted the "Ain al-Asad" base in southern Iraq, as well as the Al-Shadadi base in Al-Hasaka, Syria, reporting direct hits.

Previously, the commander of the Iraqi "Badr" Organization, Mohammed Al Gebraoui declared that any participation of the US in the aggression on Gaza would be met with "direct hits on US interests in Iraq", emphasizing that the Resistance's operations would resume until the Israeli aggression stops.

The commander additionally reasserted, in an interview with Al Mayadeen, that there is no legitimacy to US presence in Iraq and that the Resistance has the ability to target US interests, even in protected zones.

US complicity in Gaza bringing region to a boil

Amid the US-sponsored aggression on Gaza and Palestine, Resistance forces across different fronts have targeted US bases in Syria and Iraq, causing consequential material and human damage. As of late, over 60 attacks have been launched since the start of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" sustaining major injuries among US troops.

Yemen has also shot down a US surveillance drone monitoring Yemeni actions and captured an Israeli ship after its warnings to the US of war as the latter plans to fortify its fronts across the Red Sea.

In addition, Iran also warned the US against interference in Palestine and has explicitly stated that "Israel" and its backers will have to bear responsibility for regional security threats.
