After two years of relentless Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has revealed staggering figures that underscore the scale of destruction, death, and suffering inflicted on the besieged population since October 7, 2023.

According to the ministry's latest report, the total number of martyrs is now at 67,173, with 169,780 people wounded, including 20,179 children, 10,427 women, and 4,813 elderly civilians. The data reflects the ongoing genocide that has left Gaza's population shattered under continuous bombardment, siege, and starvation.

Every day brings new tragedies

The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that "Israel's" attacks have turned 77 children into orphans, 29 women into widows, and caused 16 miscarriages among pregnant women every single day. Families are being erased from the civil registry, while thousands of others live amid grief, displacement, and psychological trauma.

The devastation extends beyond human loss. UNRWA's recent report confirmed that over 80% of Gaza's buildings have been damaged or destroyed, and nearly all residents have been displaced, many multiple times, under the weight of unending airstrikes. The same report documented the deaths of 845 people sheltering inside UNRWA facilities and more than 370 UNRWA staff members killed since the start of the war.

The Ministry of Health warned that the healthcare system is nearing total collapse, with 55% of essential medicines, 66% of medical consumables, and 68% of laboratory supplies completely depleted. Medical workers continue to operate under impossible conditions, as 1,701 doctors, nurses, and paramedics have been martyred and 362 detained under conditions of enforced disappearance.

The report also documented 4,900 cases of amputation and permanent disability, with thousands requiring prosthetics and long-term rehabilitation programs.

Meanwhile, the continued closure of Gaza's border crossings has prevented 18,000 patients, including 5,580 children, from traveling abroad for life-saving treatment, condemning many to die slowly from preventable conditions.

Starvation as a weapon of war

The humanitarian situation has reached catastrophic levels. Famine has already been confirmed in northern Gaza, and conditions are reportedly worsening in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis.

According to the Health Ministry, 460 Palestinians have died of hunger since the start of the war, while over 51,000 children under five are suffering from acute malnutrition. 98% of Gaza's farmland has been destroyed or rendered inaccessible, and nearly 90% of the Strip's water and sanitation infrastructure lies in ruins.

Urgent appeal to the world

In its statement, the Ministry of Health issued an urgent international appeal, calling on all humanitarian and health organizations to intervene immediately and ensure the entry of medical aid, fuel, and essential supplies.

It demanded that the international community hold the occupation accountable for its systematic destruction of Gaza's health sector and for the collective punishment of more than two million Palestinians.
