Gaza marks one year of genocide: 41,909 killed, 97,303 wounded
It was a year filled with aggression, pain, and suffering, as Palestinians continue to resist the oppressive occupation that has relentlessly targeted civilians in the Gaza Strip.
On the 367th day of "Israel's" relentless war on Gaza, four massacres have been committed against families in the Gaza Strip, leaving 39 martyrs and 137 injuries, according to reports from local hospitals in the past 24 hours.
Tragically, many victims remain trapped beneath rubble and in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense teams are unable to reach them due to ongoing bombardments.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on October 7, the death toll has soared to 41,909 martyrs and 97,303 wounded. As the war enters its second year, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that approximately 60% of the victims are children and women, underscoring the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the region.
The Ministry has also highlighted the dire medical crisis, with 25,000 patients in urgent need of treatment and 12,500 cancer patients facing imminent danger due to the complete collapse of Gaza's healthcare infrastructure. This escalating health emergency, compounded by a lack of medicines and medical supplies, threatens the lives of thousands more in the besieged enclave.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health further emphasized the catastrophic collapse of Gaza's healthcare system, revealing that 146 specialized doctors have been lost due to the ongoing aggression. Additionally, 60% of essential medications and 83% of medical supplies are unavailable, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian crisis.
902 Palestinian families have been wiped out: Government media office
Marking the one year of the Israeli onslaught, Ismail Thawabta, Director General of the Government Media Office, delivered a heartfelt statement detailing the scale of devastation. He reported that the occupiers have killed more than 16,000 Palestinian children, including 171 infants, while 11,400 women have been martyred.
Thawabta's statement underscored the complete 902 Palestinian families who have been completely wiped out, their names erased from civil records in a horrific act of collective punishment. He further noted that in a year, the Israeli occupation carried out over 3,600 massacres and systematically flattened entire residential neighborhoods.
These crimes have been enabled through US-supplied weapons and military support, further highlighting the complicity of international actors in the ongoing destruction of Gaza, according to Thawabta.
Meanwhile, over two million people remain displaced, facing dire conditions of inadequate healthcare and nutrition. Malnutrition rates are skyrocketing, depriving children of essential needs such as formula milk, vital supplements, and vaccinations.
He emphasized that the Israeli bombardment continues unabated, with 187 shelters targeted, resulting in the deaths of over 1,060 individuals seeking refuge. Additionally, medical facilities lie in ruins, medical personnel are increasingly being killed, and critical healthcare services are collapsing under this relentless assault.
The Israeli occupation has also cut off Gaza from the rest of the world, denying 25,000 patients and injured people access to vital medical treatment outside Gaza. Meanwhile, the occupation forces have targeted and killed 175 journalists, attempting to silence any voices that speak against their genocidal campaign.
Concerning the education system, the occupation has killed 750 educators and deprived more than 780,000 students of their right to education for a second year in a row.
This genocidal war has also desecrated sacred spaces, with 814 mosques, three churches, and 19 cemeteries targeted. The desecration includes the theft of 2,300 bodies from these cemeteries, showing no respect for the dead.
The destruction in Gaza has reached 86% of the region, with damages amounting to $35 billion—an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.
