Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reaffirmed on Sunday his country’s unwavering support for the Syrian people in the face of ongoing Israeli aggression, stressing Iran’s commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking during a public session of the Shura Council, Iran's Parliament, Ghalibaf warned that Israeli attacks on states resisting Western hegemony serve as proof that Damascus will not be the last Islamic capital targeted by "Israel." He called on the people of the region to unite in confronting the occupation.

Ghalibaf further asserted that the Israeli occupation poses a continuous threat to regional security, cautioning that those who stake their country’s stability on relations with "Israel" are "living in a bubble in a turbulent environment."

In this context, he described "Israel" as an enemy of peace, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity throughout the region, emphasizing that "the only language the Israeli entity understands is the language of force."

"The tearing apart of Syria has exposed the illusion of placing hope in the Israeli entity," Ghalibaf said, pointing to "Israel’s" recent destruction of Syrian defense infrastructure as evidence. He criticized those who believed cooperation with "Israel" would bring peace and stability, describing them as "naive."

Araghchi slams Israeli aggression on Syria

On a related note, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the latest Israeli airstrikes on Syria on July 17, reaffirming Tehran’s support for Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In a post published on the social media platform X, Araghchi described the attack on Damascus as “all too predictable,” warning of potential further escalations, “Which capital is next?” he asked.

Unfortunately, this was all too predictable. Which capital is next?

He referred to the Israeli regime as “rabid,” asserting that it “knows no bounds and only grasps one language.” Araghchi further called on the international community and regional powers to unite against "Israel's" “unhinged aggression,” which threatens the stability of the entire region.

“Iran supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, and will always stand with the Syrian people,” he affirmed.
