Ghannouchi Relieves All Ennahda Executive Bureau Members of Duty
In a move to quell the widespread rage within Tunisia's "Ennahda", Rached Ghannouchi has relieved all the Movement's executive bureau members of duty.
Tunisia's "Ennahda" Movement released a statement on Monday in which it said that its President Rached Ghannouchi has relieved all Executive Bureau members of duty, in a move that most likely aims to quell the rage within the Movement over its leadership's performance during the political crisis.
Ennahda's statement said that in line with the general goal to restructure the Executive Bureau, the Movement's President has decided to relieve all the Bureau's members of duty and to reform the bureau as this period necessitates.
Days ago, Ennahda denounced the conspiracies threatening Tunisia's national security and the President's personal security. The Movement issued a statement in which it called on the State's security services and judicial body to probe into the matter to expose those involved in the said conspiracies. Ennahda Movement also warned against internal and foreign plots that aim to undermine the country's stability.
Ennahda indicated that the unconstitutional decisions and measures announced on July 25 and thereafter are 'exceptional,' noting that overcoming them requires cooperation.
Ghannoushi faced backlash from leading party figures, demanding him to step down and accusing him of mismanaging the country's political crisis in the aftermath of President Saied's suspension of the Parliament and dismissal of the government, as part of his exceptional measures.
The President's decisions have caused a crisis within Ennahda, the largest party in the Parliament.
Earlier today, President Kais Saied issued a presidential order to extend the suspension of the Parliament and the lifting of parliamentary immunity until further notice. This coincided with the deployment of security forces around the Parliament in the Tunisian capital.
