Good sign, change in European stance: Iranian adviser to Vienna
Adviser in Iran's negotiating team, Seyed Mohammad Marandi, explains to Al-Mayadeen that the change in the European position on the two drafts is a "good sign."
Adviser in Iran's negotiating team, Seyyed Mohammad Marandi, confirmed today, that the Europeans have changed their position slightly on the two drafts which the Iranians previously submitted.
In an interview with Al-Mayadeen, Marandi indicated that the change in the European position is a "good sign," revealing that for the Iranians the final paper must recognize Iran's full rights.
Marandi added that when the Iranians submitted the two new drafts, they declared that it does not mean that the old draft is no longer valid. The Adviser stated that the Iranian side, through the two new drafts, added additional points to the old one since it was lacking in one way or another.
Iran had presented two drafts in the first phase of the seventh round of the Vienna talks regarding its nuclear commitments and removal of sanctions.
Iran's lead negotiator, Ali Bagheri Kani told Al Mayadeen that "since we have presented the two drafts, we've held several meetings with the other teams in Vienna," adding that "we expect the other teams to give us their legal answers and logical arguments to our suggestions."
The source close to the delegation of the Iranian negotiator told Al Mayadeen that if Iran got a positive response to the first and second drafts, it will provide a third draft on the verification of the lifting of sanctions.
