United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres "condemned" the killing of dozens of civilians by the Israeli occupation in Rafah, emphasizing that these civilians were only seeking shelter amid the ongoing Israeli genocide.

In a post on X on Monday, Guterres affirmed that "there is no safe place in Gaza," demanding that "this horror must stop."

I condemn Israel’s actions which killed scores of innocent civilians who were only seeking shelter from this deadly conflict.

There is no safe place in Gaza.

This horror must stop.

Similarly, the Foreign Policy chief of the European Union, Josep Borrell, condemned the Israeli bombing of forcibly displaced people in Rafah "in the strongest terms," adding that "there is no safe place in Gaza."

"Horrified by news coming out of #Rafah on Israeli strikes killing dozens of displaced persons, including small children," he wrote on X.

"There is no safe place in Gaza. These attacks must stop immediately. ICJ orders & IHL must be respected by all parties."

On Friday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the occupation entity to immediately halt its military assault on the small city in southern Gaza.

Associated Press reported late Monday that the UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed-door meeting requested by Algeria on Tuesday to address the Israeli massacre in Rafah.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli occupation bombed a tent city, established in UNRWA barracks in the northwest of Rafah Governorate. The attack was carried out with more than seven missiles and large bombs, each weighing more than 2000 pounds of explosives, the Gaza Media Office stated.

Over 40 people were martyred, most of them women and children, in the Israeli bombing.

Footage showed tents in flames as a result of the Israeli strikes, with terrified Palestinians searching between the rubble for martyrs, most of whom had been incinerated.

The UNSC will convene just one day ahead of an Israeli Knesset preliminary vote on Wednesday, seeking to designate UNRWA a "terrorist organization" and sever all official "direct and indirect" ties with it.
