The news agency reports that the council will convene based on a request made by Algeria.
The UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed-door meeting requested by Algeria on Tuesday, after the Israeli massacre against forcibly displaced families sheltered in a tent city in Rafah late Sunday, AP reported citing diplomats.
Over 40 people were martyred, most of them women and children, in the Israeli bombing.
Footage showed tents in flames as a result of the Israeli strikes, with terrified Palestinians searching between the rubble for martyrs, most of whom had been incinerated.

On Friday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the occupation entity to immediately halt its military assault on the small city in southern Gaza.
The UNSC will convene just one day ahead of an Israeli Knesset preliminary vote on Wednesday, seeking to designate the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) a "terrorist organization" and sever all official "direct and indirect" ties with it.
No safe place in Gaza
The camp, established in UNRWA barracks in the northwest of Rafah Governorate, was bombed with more than seven missiles and large bombs, each weighing more than 2000 pounds of explosives, the Gaza Media Office stated.
The Gaza Civil revealed that the targeted area shelters 100,000 displaced persons.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) expressed horror at "Israel's" massacre, stating that the "deadly event" underscores once again that nowhere is safe in Gaza.
