The UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed-door meeting requested by Algeria on Tuesday, after the Israeli massacre against forcibly displaced families sheltered in a tent city in Rafah late Sunday, AP reported citing diplomats.

Over 40 people were martyred, most of them women and children, in the Israeli bombing.

Footage showed tents in flames as a result of the Israeli strikes, with terrified Palestinians searching between the rubble for martyrs, most of whom had been incinerated.

In a post on X, the Israeli occupation army claimed responsibility for the strike, claiming it was a "precision" attack to assassinate Hamas members.

On Friday, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the occupation entity to immediately halt its military assault on the small city in southern Gaza.

No safe place in Gaza

The camp, established in UNRWA barracks in the northwest of Rafah Governorate, was bombed with more than seven missiles and large bombs, each weighing more than 2000 pounds of explosives, the Gaza Media Office stated.

The Gaza Civil revealed that the targeted area shelters 100,000 displaced persons.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) expressed horror at "Israel's" massacre, stating that the "deadly event" underscores once again that nowhere is safe in Gaza.

Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN special rapporteur on the right to housing, has urged action against "Israel" in response to the massacre.
