The company operating the Haifa refinery and its associated facilities announced on Monday that all operations have been halted following significant damage caused by an Iranian missile strike.
In a statement, the company explained that the power station responsible for a portion of the steam and electricity production used across its infrastructure was severely impacted. Additional damage was also reported across other facilities.
“As a result, all refinery units and affiliated companies have been shut down,” the company said, signaling a complete operational halt as assessments and potential repairs are underway.
According to local sources, the equipment of Arab press crews in Haifa were confiscated, and all crews were informed that they would be summoned for questioning and investigation in the coming days.
All press rooms were raided by Israeli police on the recommendation of the Coastal Police District Commander and Police Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
'Israel' bans coverage of oil refinery
"Israel" has subsequently banned international journalists from covering the situation at the Haifa oil refinery. Israeli police have given the order after film crews recorded Iranian strikes raining down on the site, actively exposing the occupation.
On Monday, the Israeli military censorship allowed the release of information regarding the operation, while Israeli media reported that three settlers died at the oil refinery during the missile strike.
The Bazan Petroleum Company had previously reported to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that Iranian missiles overnight had inflicted localized damage to pipelines and transmission lines at its Haifa Bay complex.
