Hamas: Negotiation traps aimed to undermine Palestinian demands
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Hamas' representative in Lebanon, Ahmad Abdel Hadi, confirms that the leadership of the Palestinian Resistance made sure to bypass traps set to undermine Palestinian demands in their response to the ceasefire proposal.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Hamas' representative in Lebanon, Ahmad Abdel Hadi, explained that "the Zionist entity is in disarray and is suffering from a deep crisis due to the Palestinian Resistance and the Axis of Resistance."
Abdel Hadi added that "the dissolution of the war cabinet means that the entity ['Israel'] has been experiencing fragmentation since the launch of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation due to the Resistance's operations."
He pointed out that the level of proficiency achieved by the Resistance's operations is escalating, along with the virtuosity of its leaders on the political level, while the Israeli occupation is living in a strategic bottleneck from which it does not seem to have the prospects of getting out of.
Regarding the current negotiations, he affirmed that "the Resistance has presented its response to the agreement, and the American administration must pressure the [Israeli] occupation government if it wants to end the war."
Moreover, Abdel Hadi said that "the American administration, through the negotiations, does not want to grant the Resistance any achievements," stressing that "the Resistance cannot concede its demands that preserve the achievements of Al-Aqsa Flood."
The representative also noted that "the ideas that were being proposed to the Resistance within the framework of the deal contain traps that prevent the fulfillment of the Palestinian people's demands."
In addition, Abdel Hadi praised the role of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon as a support front in Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, saying that "it achieved its role as a support front for Gaza, where it achieved very significant strategic deterrence on the military level, the displacement of thousands of settlers, and the striking of the occupation's intelligence systems."
He confirmed that "the cessation of the war on the Lebanese front will occur after the war on Gaza stops, and the American envoy Amos Hochstein has become convinced of this."
US doesn't want new front, escalation in North with Lebanon: Kirby
The United States wants neither another front to be opened nor an escalation in the North with Lebanon, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby confirmed.
At a press conference on Monday, White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby was asked if the US still believes that a full-blown war with Lebanon can be prevented, to which he answered that Hochstein was sent to the region for that particular reason.
“If we were so sure of that, we probably wouldn’t have Amos traveling over there. We’re concerned about it obviously,” Kirby replied, referring to Amos Hochstein, the senior assistant to US President Joe Biden, who is in al-Quds for talks with Israeli officials allegedly to try and stop a further escalation in the North.
"We don't want to see escalation, second front in Israel war and we are concerned about it," he further reiterated.
On his part, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated later, "Our level of concern hasn’t really changed; it continues to be something that we’ve been worried about.”
Days ago, a senior official in the US administration expressed his country’s deep concern regarding an escalation on the northern front with Lebanon, stressing that “Washington held several emergency [indirect] talks between Lebanon and Israel to avoid a full-scale war.”
It is worth noting that Miller reiterated on June 13 in a press briefing, "But again, the – a ceasefire in Gaza would be the best way, in our assessment, to advance a meaningful resolution in the north of Israel along that border."
