The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) reaffirmed on Saturday its commitment to the agreements it has signed, according to a statement issued following a meeting between the head of its Gaza branch, Khalil al-Hayya, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.
Hamas said that al-Hayya stressed the movement's adherence to previously reached understandings, noting that these include efforts to locate and hand over the remaining bodies of Israeli captives, as well as to advance national-level initiatives.
Among these initiatives, the statement added, is the formation of an independent committee to administer the Gaza Strip and oversee related obligations, particularly the completion of a full Israeli withdrawal from the Strip.
Ceasefire Violations
This comes as international media reported that Hamas has already returned all living captives under the terms of the ceasefire, while 11 bodies of deceased captives remain to be recovered and handed over.
According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, Hamas has so far transferred 17 bodies out of 28 agreed upon as part of the ongoing humanitarian arrangement.
Despite the ceasefire being in effect, "Israel" continues to violate the truce by carrying out daily attacks and large-scale demolitions across the Gaza Strip, including new operations in Khan Younis and Gaza City that destroyed dozens of residential buildings on Saturday.
Recovery Operations
Earlier in the day, the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that its teams are prepared to recover the bodies of Israeli captives inside the so-called "yellow zone” simultaneously and across all locations as part of efforts to "close this file.”
The Brigades urged mediators and the International Committee of the Red Cross to provide and equip the necessary teams and tools to conduct the recovery operations for all bodies at the same time, the statement said.
