Hamas delegation to visit Russia for MFA meeting
A Hamas delegation will visit Russia for talks with Russian Foreign Ministry officials.
Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of Hamas' political bureau and head of its international relations office, is set to visit Moscow on Monday at the helm of a delegation from the movement, a source confirmed to the Russian news agency Sputnik.
The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, the source added.
In October, a senior Hamas delegation led by Abu Marzouk met with Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.
During that meeting, Bogdanov reiterated Russia's support for a ceasefire in Gaza, the rights of the Palestinian people, and the need for humanitarian aid to be delivered to the enclave, as well as for an exchange of prisoners.
Meanwhile, Hamas expressed strong appreciation for the position of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the diplomatic efforts put forth by Russia regarding the war on Gaza.
Hamas discussed the need to halt the "crimes of Israel supported by the West" and reiterated their right to resist the occupation through various means.
The talks also included discussions about the release of captives and the evacuation of foreign citizens, including Russians, from the Gaza Strip.
