  • Haniyeh: Hamas open to continued negotiations with conditions
Head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in his speech about the developments in the ceasefire agreement in Gaza (Falastin al-Yawm)

According to the Head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, the principles worked on during negotiations are stopping the aggression, complete Israeli withdrawal, the return of the displaced, the humanitarian dimension of the war, and an honorable prisoner exchange deal.

Haniyeh confirmed that “if the resistance received a clear response from the mediators from the occupation by adhering to the principles of the agreement, then it is ready to go to an agreement.”

Haniyeh said that the occupation will bear responsibility for not reaching an agreement in Gaza, stressing that “Hamas is open to continuing negotiations.”

Haniyeh stressed three conditions since negotiations began, which include an end to the aggression, the complete withdrawal from Gaza, the return of the displaced, including the humanitarian dimension, and an honorable prisoner exchange deal.

Haniyeh added, "The enemy has so far evaded giving clear guarantees, especially regarding the ceasefire, and has not given guarantees for the complete withdrawal of its forces from Gaza, nor for the return of the displaced," pointing out that "it is talking about a gradual return of the displaced."

Haniyeh pointed out that "Hamas showed the highest levels of willingness and responsibility, and made it clear that the agreement must be in 3 stages and with international guarantees."

He elaborated that if a clear message was given to mediators by the Israelis, adhering to the principles of the agreement, "we are ready to go to an agreement," adding that it was the priority of the Palestinian resistance to end the aggression and open a horizon and future for Palestinian people.

Haniyeh pointed out that "the occupation failed to achieve any of its military goals despite all the massacres and the war of extermination," stressing that "the Palestinian people are the ones who initiated imposing equations, but the occupation has failed to impose its conditions."

Haniyeh saluted all the resistance fronts that support the Palestinian people’s battle against the occupation in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, and all the masses demonstrating in the capitals of the world in support of Gaza.

It is noteworthy that Haniyeh called, yesterday, for the need to exert pressure on international capitals supporting the occupation to force it to stop this hideous war, immediately and unconditionally.

Haniyeh stressed the necessity of quickly providing real relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in terms of food, medicine, and shelter and opening the crossings to fully operate.
