Hamas Prisoners Authority: Dozens of Prisoners Prepare for an Open Hunger Strike
The Higher Leadership Committee of Hamas prisoners says that “dozens of prisoners are preparing to start an open hunger strike to support the six prisoners on hunger strike, in protest of the administrative detention.”
The Higher Leadership Committee of Hamas prisoners inside the occupation prisons confirmed today that “dozens of prisoners are preparing to start an open hunger strike to support the six prisoners on hunger strike, in protest of the administrative detention.”
In a statement, the commission stressed that "we cannot remain silent in light of what the prisoners on hunger strike are subjected to in refusal to administrative detention, and we will not leave them alone."
It pointed out that it holds "the occupation fully responsible for the life of the heroic prisoner Kayed al-Fasfous, the heroic prisoner Miqdad al-Qawasmi and the rest of the prisoners," calling on legal institutions and international human rights organizations to "stand up to their responsibilities and move to end the occupation's crimes against the prisoners."
The committee pointed out that "the time has come for an urgent and quick action by everyone to put an end to the crimes of administrative detention that our people have been suffering from for decades."
In turn, Hamas leader Khaled al-Hajj stressed that all upcoming decisions and protests should convey the pain of the prisoners who are facing life-threatening dangers.
Al-Hajj called on factions, the Palestinian authority, and masses everywhere to exert all pressures in order to save the lives of the prisoners.
The authority had previously confirmed that it would defend and preserve the rights of all prisoners, regardless of their organizational affiliation.
It is noteworthy that the mother of Miqdad al-Qawasmi, the prisoner on hunger strike for more than three months, revealed yesterday the deterioration of his health in light of the mistreatment he is being subjected to by the administration of the Kaplan Hospital, where the occupation is detaining him.
