Hamas welcomes ICJ advisory opinion
Hamas welcomes the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice and urges the international community to compel the Israeli occupation to comply with these decisions.
Hamas welcomed the advisory opinion presented by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to the United Nations General Assembly, which the group noted reaffirmed the "illegitimacy of the Zionist occupation."
In a statement, Hamas announced that this decision "puts the international system before the necessity of immediate action to end the occupation." It called on the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to take the necessary measures to end the occupation.
The movement also called on the international community to arm itself with these resolutions, override the American will, and work to “compel the fascist occupation to implement them and comply with them immediately.”
The ICJ ruled that "Israel's" occupation of al-Quds and the West Bank has led to a settlement policy that violates international law.
In its declaration on Friday, it stressed that Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is a de facto annexation, noting that "Israel's" settlement policies "violate international law."
The Financial Times, in turn, commented on the advisory opinion presented by the International Court of Justice, saying it further isolates "Israel" diplomatically.
