The Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas welcomed the positive positions expressed at the international conference on the Question of Palestine held this week in New York, commending the international efforts that support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and statehood.
In a statement issued Thursday, Hamas said it appreciates the positions voiced at the conference, particularly those that support the restoration of the Palestinian people's rights in their homeland and the establishment of an independent state without preconditions.
The movement reiterated that Palestinian Resistance and its arms are a legitimate national and legal right, "as long as the occupation persists," and that this right is recognized under international law and conventions. Hamas stressed that these rights cannot be relinquished until Palestinians achieve full sovereignty and independence.
The statement emphasized that any serious international effort must begin with halting the ongoing war of extermination and ethnic cleansing committed by the Israeli occupation, followed by ending the occupation altogether.
"This requires isolating the occupation entity and holding its leaders accountable as war criminals, rather than offering them protection or pursuing normalization agreements with their criminal regime," the movement asserted.
Hamas said that recognizing a fully sovereign Palestinian state is a natural and legitimate right of the Palestinian people and a product of their long-standing struggle, adding that it views any international step toward this goal with “great interest.”

Ceasefire talks tied to ending starvation and aid delivery
In a separate statement, Hamas declared its readiness to re-engage in negotiations immediately, if humanitarian aid reaches its intended recipients and the famine in Gaza is alleviated.
The movement stressed that the starvation war being waged by the Israeli occupation has reached an intolerable level and now poses the greatest threat to the lives of over two million Palestinians in Gaza.
"Continuing negotiations under starvation conditions strips them of their meaning and usefulness," Hamas stated, especially given that the Israeli side withdrew from the talks last week without justification, despite both parties reportedly nearing an agreement.
Hamas called on the international community and all relevant actors to act immediately to halt what it described as a "massacre by starvation," demanding the unconditional and urgent delivery of food and aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, along with guarantees for the safety of those deliveries.
