Hamas said that "Israel's" announcement of the destruction of a land tunnel belonging to the movement's military wing in the eastern Gaza Strip is "marketing for fake victories."
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a press statement on Monday that "Israeli media reports about the discovery of a tunnel north of Gaza were aimed to cover the Israeli crimes committed in Gaza," adding that "Palestinians are entitled to resist the Israeli occupation with all means possible."
The Israeli KAN channel claimed that the occupation forces "closed a bifurcated tunnel dug by the Al-Qassam Brigades, extending from the northern Gaza Strip and penetrating into Israeli territory."
The occupation forces also alleged that "the tunnel's path did not pass the new security obstacle that was completed about a year ago, which constitutes an important security factor in maintaining security in the surrounding area, and therefore the tunnel did not pose any threat to the areas and towns in the adjacent area."
