Harris prepares for debate against Trump with mock sessions
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5.
US Vice President Kamala Harris is rigorously preparing for the upcoming September 10 debate against former President Donald Trump by participating in a mock debate, with a former assistant to ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton playing the role of Trump, NBC News reported on Saturday, citing sources familiar with the situation.
According to the report, Harris is currently in the middle of her five-day preparation at a hotel in Pittsburgh.
As she prepares for her first debate in four years, the Democratic nominee is working on how to weave details of her personal biography into her responses to better introduce herself to a public that remains largely unfamiliar with her since announcing her presidential candidacy in July, according to sources.
Additionally, VP Harris is preparing for the possibility that Trump may make offensive remarks about her during the debate, the report noted.
Harris' thorough preparation is partly driven by the belief among some of her advisers that Trump performed better than expected in his June debate with President Joe Biden. As a result, they are cautious not to underestimate the former president, according to the report.
On Thursday, Trump told reporters that his upcoming debate with Kamala Harris would be rigged against him, further heightening tensions ahead of the elections which is scheduled for November 5.
