It is a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV with a wingspan of 15 meters (49 feet). It has a maximum takeoff weight of around 1,180 kilograms (2,600 pounds).
Operated by Squadron 166 of the Israeli Air Force, the Hermes 900 weighs 970 kilograms, enjoys a maximum payload weight of 350 kilograms, and reaches a maximum altitude of 30,000 feet.
The drone is equipped with various sensors and payloads, including electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), maritime patrol radar, signals intelligence (SIGINT) systems, and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.
The Hermes 900 enjoys a maximum flight endurance of up to 36 hours in a single sortie, allowing it to conduct long-duration missions.
The aircraft is operated remotely from a ground control station (GCS) by a team of operators and uses secure data links for communication with the ground control station, allowing real-time control and data transmission.
The Hermes 900 entered service with the Israeli Air Force in 2012 and was used during the Israeli occupation's war on the Gaza Strip in 2014. It is the second-largest unmanned reconnaissance aircraft after the Heron TP, also known as Eitan, developed by the "Israel" Aerospace Industries.
Daily operations
Hezbollah launched a series of aerial and artillery attacks today targeting Israeli military positions.
A swarm of kamikaze drones targeted the newly established headquarters of the 146th Divison, located east of Nahariya, a statement released by the Resistance said.
The attack, aimed at the positions of Israeli officers and soldiers, reportedly resulted in direct hits, causing fires and inflicting casualties.
Hezbollah stated that the assault was conducted in support of Gaza and its resistance, and in retaliation for Israeli attacks on the Lebanese towns of Aitaroun and Marwahin, which resulted in the martyrdom of several fighters.
In a separate statement, Hezbollah announced the targeting of the Radar site in the occupied Shebaa Farms. This site, along with its garrison and surveillance equipment, was struck with artillery shells and guided missiles, leading to direct hits and the destruction of the targeted equipment.
During the escalation, an Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation is investigating its failure to intercept two drones that entered Nahariya. Israeli media said fires broke out in a newly established military base near Nahariya following the drone strikes.
Initial reports from Israeli media said one individual was injured by shrapnel in Kabri, a town in the al-Jalil region near the Lebanese border area after an anti-tank missile attack.
The media reported that sirens were sounded in various northern Israeli locations, including Beit Hillel, Metula, Kfar Yuval, Kfar Giladi, Ma'ayan Baruch, Margaliot, Misgav Am, and Kiryat Shmona, as well as in the Sha'al settlement in the occupied Golan Heights.
Hezbollah also carried out a drone strike on the Israeli Bayad Blida site. This was preceded by an attack on newly established surveillance equipment at the Rameem barracks, which resulted in its destruction.
Additionally, Hezbollah targeted buildings housing Israeli soldiers in the settlements of Manara, Yaroun, and Avivim in the occupied territories, claiming that the operations were successful and inflicted numerous casualties upon the soldiers.
