Hezbollah MP reveals three non-negotiables for a ceasefire in Lebanon
MP Ihab Hamadeh confirms to Al Mayadeen that the increasing attacks on the capital Beirut will not deter its people, but only reflect the nature of the occupation.
Targeting civilians and Beirut are part of the Israeli conduct that knows no bounds, Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Ihab Hamadeh said on Monday, following escalating Israeli attacks on the safe areas in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen on Monday evening, Hamadeh confirmed that the Israeli occupation was trying to skip over its aggravated reality by targeting civilians and the heart of Beirut.
He also made parallels to the genocide in Gaza, saying that based on the situation in Lebanon mirrors that in Gaza regarding the diplomatic movements that coincide with military pressure to impose compromises and achieve gains.
The Hezbollah MP further explained that a list of non-negotiables was proposed, a ceasefire being at its forefront. The second and third non-negotiables, according to Hamadeh, are the protection of Lebanese sovereignty and the prevention of the occupation to achieve in politics what it failed to achieve on the battlefield.
"We cannot surrender to anything that would compromise our country's sovereignty," Hamadeh added, further noting that not everything reported about the Israeli-USproposal is true.
The MP further stated Lebanon's openness to reach a ceasefire agreement and to dialogue, but asserted that "we will not beg for any agreement," emphasizing that "the steadfastness on the ground in Gaza and Lebanon presents a wonderful image in the face of the occupation."
MP Sherri to Al Mayadeen
In turn, speaking to Al Mayadeen, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, MP Amin Sherri stressed that the occupation was trying to break the people's resolve and intimidate the people of Beirut.
He stated that through its aggression on Beirut, the occupation seeks to instill fear and provoke a new wave of displacement. However, he emphasized, "We have not witnessed any displacement following the recent attack on Beirut. The people remain resolute, and the occupation will not succeed in breaking their resilience."
Israeli aggression on Zuqaq al-Blat, central Beirut
Their statements followed an Israeli airstrike that targeted a neighborhood in central Beirut on Monday, marking the third attack in the Lebanese capital within the last 24 hours.
“An Israeli air strike hit close to the Al-Zahraa Husseiniya in Zuqaq al-Blat,” a source told AFP requesting anonymity.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that the aggression targeted the ground floor of a four-story building in the densely populated Zuqaq al-Blat area of Beirut, striking the local mayor's office.
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health issued a statement confirming that the updated toll from the Israeli airstrike on the Zqaq al-Blat area in Beirut now stands at five martyrs and 24 injured.
