Hezbollah condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen on Monday, which targeted several ports and critical infrastructure, emphasizing that Sanaa remains steadfast in its support for Gaza.
"Hezbollah strongly condemns today's dawn attack by the criminal Zionist regime, which targeted vital ports and infrastructure in Yemen. The enemy falsely believes such aggression will deter Yemen from its principled support for Gaza or halt the painful retaliatory strikes delivered by Yemen's courageous fighters against the heart of the illegitimate Zionist entity," Hezbollah said in a statement.
The statement asserted that "Israel" is still unable to comprehend the nature of the Yemeni people, whose stance stems from a firm creed that believes what is righteous must be followed, and carries a genuine faith in defending the oppressed.
"Yemen’s leadership and people stand firm in the tradition of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), refusing to bow to tyranny or accept oppression. No amount of aggression will weaken their resolve, it will only harden their determination to resist until the attacks on Gaza end and the blockade is broken."
Hezbollah denounced the Israeli attacks as cowardly acts of aggression that will ultimately prove futile, just as past US assaults on Yemen have failed, reaffirming the Lebanese group's solidarity with Ansar Allah.
The statement concluded by calling on "Freedom-loving nations everywhere, especially across the Arab and Islamic world," to unite behind Yemen's fight, describing it as a fight to defend to dignity of the entire ummah.
'Israel' attacks Yemen, air defense repel Israeli jets
Early on Monday, a series of at least 20 Israeli airstrikes targeted the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, according to reports from Al Mayadeen’s correspondent on the ground, though Yemeni air defenses successfully intercepted and countered a substantial number of the incoming attacks.
The strikes focused on critical infrastructure across multiple strategic sites, hitting the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Issa along with the Ras Qatif power station, targets that Israeli media acknowledged had already suffered three prior attacks by occupation forces.
Our correspondent reported that one of the strikes hit the Galaxy Leader vessel which is linked to "Israel" and was captured by the Yemeni Armed Forces on November 19, 2023, while Israeli Security Minister Israel Katz stated that Israeli forces were "vigorously attacking" targets at Yemeni ports including the Ras Qatif power plant and the same Galaxy Leader ship.
Yemeni military sources informed Al Mayadeen that air defenses successfully intercepted the initial assault with surface-to-air missiles, repelling 10 Israeli aircraft from Yemeni airspace before they could execute their missions, while also revealing that Israeli warplanes were forced to abort planned strikes on additional governorates and retreat.
