Hillary Clinton says Trump to run again in 2024
The former US Secretary of State and 2016 Trump opponent for the presidential elections says Trump's re-election again in 2024 could have a negative impact on the country.
Hillary Clinton said today that Donald Trump running for president again in 2024 could be a dark turning point for the United States.
"If I were a betting person right now, I’d say Trump is going to run again," she said, adding "but I want people to understand that this is a make-or-break point."
The former Secretary of State spoke in an interview, stating she believes there would be "dire consequences for the nation" if Trump were to be elected President.
"Are we going to give in to all these lies and this disinformation and this organized effort to undermine our rule of law and our institutions, or are we going to stand up to it?" she asked.
Clinton had lost to Trump in the 2016 election in a close race. She revisited the election in a new MasterClass video.
Worries from a Trump comeback
US newspaper The Hill reported that the circles of the two parties, the Democratic and the Republican, are deeply concerned about the return of former US President Donald Trump to the political arena and his running for president again.
A Democratic pollster, Rachel Bitecofer, warned that the prospect of him winning, not to mention his strong presence among his base, should not be taken for granted. “There's not a strategist or insider that I'm hanging out with who would like to see Donald Trump running again,” she said.
She explained that he almost re-won the elections in 2020 despite four years of ongoing scandals, heightened by the pandemic and its mismanagement, yet “that never affected him. And he almost won and his party picked up seats in the House,” she stressed.
Earlier, an opinion poll conducted by the University of Virginia Center for Politics revealed that 52% of Trump’s base thinks it’s time to split the country, favoring blue/red states seceding from the Federal Union.
Trump blasts Netanyahu
Just yesterday, in an interview for the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, former US President Donald Trump waged a full-on verbal attack on former ally and friend Israeli ex-PM Benjamin Netanyahu, describing him as disloyal for congratulating Biden immediately despite the Republican candidate still contesting the results of the 2020 elections.
“Nobody did more for Bibi. And I liked Bibi. I still like Bibi," Trump said, referring to Netanyahu. "But I also like loyalty. The first person to congratulate Biden was Bibi. And not only did he congratulate him, he did it on tape. And it was on tape."
The media mogul noted that his “Bibi” congratulated his Democratic rival way too early, even ahead of other world leaders despite Trump’s previous efforts to consolidate their alliance by making a series of ill-conceived and widely contested decisions - chiefly among them his push for Arab-Israeli ties normalization.
“Early, okay? Let's use this. He was very early [in congratulating Biden]. Like earlier than most. I haven’t spoken to him since. F*** him.”
