The Joint Operations Command in Iraq confirms that "around 3,900 ISIS terrorists who tried to flee from Al-Hasakah prison are being held securely in a new prison."

Iraq's Security Media cell announced, on Friday, the killing of more than 350 ISIS members who were being held in Al-Hasakah prison in Syria following their attempt to escape.

In a statement, the cell said that “the Joint Operations Command closely monitored the recent attempted escape of terrorist detainees from Syria's Al-Hasakah jail, and security forces quickly began taking the required measures to adequately safeguard Iraq's borders in collaboration and coordination with international coalition advisors."

“Following an investigation, it has been exposed that this operation was an attempt to free 4,400 ISIS members held in Al-Hasakah prison, while those responsible for organizing and carrying out the attack were either dead or detained," the statement added.

On its part, International Coalition for Operation Inherent Resolve affirmed that ISIS failed to refill its ranks and force by releasing 4,400 detainees Al-Hasakah prison, stressing that Iraqi Security Forces has increased its efforts to tackle terrorist threats, not to mention undertaking a complete security assessment of all Iraqi jails as a preventative measure, and reinforcing troops on the Syrian border.
