In 123 days only, 'Israel' detained 6,870 Palestinians in West Bank
Palestinian detainee institutions confirm that the total number of detentions since October 7 in the West Bank includes more than 215 women and 400 children.
Institutions concerned with Palestinian detainees’ affairs said Israeli occupation forces detained 1,236 Palestinian citizens, including 30 women and 73 children, in the occupied West Bank in January 2024.
The highest number of detentions targeted occupied al-Quds, with 309 detentions recorded, followed by al-Khalil Governorate with 220 arrests, whereas Tulkarm Governorate saw 150 detention cases.
The prisoners' affairs institutions explained that, in light of the continued aggression on Gaza, the total number of detentions since October 7 in the West Bank to date amounted to 6,870, including more than 215 women and 400 children.
Meanwhile, the number of journalists detained since October 7 reached 52, with 37 of them, including two female journalists, still in detention.
The number of announced martyrs of the Captive Movement reached 7, one of whose identity is yet to be revealed, not to mention the Palestinians detained from Gaza who were martyred and executed inside Israeli occupation camps, and whose identities and the circumstances of their martyrdom are yet to be revealed.

The total number of detainees in Israeli occupation prisons, as of the end of January, stands at 9,000, excluding Gaza detainees held in camps as they continue to be forcibly disappeared.
The total number of administrative detentions, which is a precedent, stands at 3,484, including 11 women, at least 40 children, and 21 journalists.
Since the start of its devastating war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Israeli aggression on the occupied West Bank intensified and expanded, resulting in the killing of 381 Palestinians and the injury of about 4,400, according to official Palestinian sources.
