In case of war in Ukraine, 'Israel' stands with US: Israeli FM
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid declared that "Israel" would side with the United States if war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid announced Sunday that "Israel" would position itself by its traditional ally, the US, if a war were to break out between Russia and Ukraine, despite its interest in maintaining good relations with Russia.
In an interview with Channel 12, Lapid added that traditionally, "Israel" goes with its biggest ally, "the Americans," stressing their eternal security and political relations.
He added that the occupation was careful when it comes to America, noting that "Israel" has two problems that do not exist for the United States or Britain.
Responding to the question about Israeli participation in the sanctions against Russia in case of an escalation, Lapid responded that despite the desire to maintain good relations with Moscow, this matter should be reconsidered.
Lapid revealed that he made it clear to his American, French, and German counterparts that he was in a situation that no other foreign minister is in, due to the presence of a large Jewish community in Russia and a large Jewish community in Ukraine.
He stressed that he should take care of them and make sure that "Israel" does not act in a way that endangers their security, but should act with more caution than the British Foreign Secretary or the American Foreign Minister.
Last week, Yair Lapid met with Kiev's envoy, Yevgeny Korniychuk, and the two diplomats discussed their concerns over the Ukraine crisis.
Israel Hayom quoted senior Israeli officials as saying a military campaign in Eastern Europe would divert the international community's already low attention from the nuclear talks in Vienna.
It is worth mentioning that talks continue in Vienna to reach an agreement under which the US would lift all sanctions on Iran.
Lapid: "Israel" is not bound by the nuclear deal
Discussing the latest developments in nuclear negotiations, Lapid stressed that "Israel is not bound by the nuclear agreement."
The Israeli foreign minister also expressed his concern about the agreement and said "Israel" was currently in "very intense" talks with Americans, wanting to make sure that if an agreement happens, "Israel" wants to create a precise dialogue regarding how to deal with the agreement.
Lapid stated that in any case, the nuclear agreement is not good, and "Israel" was concerned, adding that the Israelis communicated their concern to the Americans.
