In protest of judicial overhaul, 100s of reservists announced evasion
Israeli media also revealed that about 150 reservists from the Shaldag unit are threatening to suspend their voluntary service if the judicial amendments persist.
Hundreds of reservists in the operational units of the Israeli Air Force have announced that they would be suspending their voluntary service in protest of the judicial overhaul, Israeli media reported.
"Our service has always been voluntary, as it is clear to everybody our duties and the extent of our sacrifices, but today trust has been betrayed and the contract has been devoid," the reservists said in a statement, adding that they had no other choice but to suspend their volunteer work in light of the ultimatum which the government has subjected them to.

Back in March, Israeli media voiced the occupation's concerns that desertion will be far-reaching and will fester in the Israeli air force instead of just the reserve brigades.
"The Chief of the General Staff is highly concerned, and therefore he kickstarted talks with the Prime Minister," Israeli Channel 12 military affairs commentator Nir Dvori said.
Commander-in-Chief Herzi Halevi, according to Dvori, "wanted to reveal to [Netanyahu] what is happening in the Israeli army according to his understanding and explain the situation, as we see it outside [of the Israeli security establishment] as well. The number of units and people who refuse or threaten to refuse to continue serving in the reserves" is increasing.
Halevi, according to Dvori, told Netanyahu that he was highly concerned about desertion becoming widespread in the Israeli occupation forces, which would hurt its operational capabilities.
