A group of Indian social and political activists met with the Iranian Consul General, Hasan Mohseni Fard, at the Iranian consulate in Mumbai to discuss the escalation in fighting between Iran and "Israel", according to a press release issued by the India Iran Friendship Forum on Saturday.
The press release said that the delegation condemned "Israel's" recent aggression against Iran and expressed support for Iran's right to defend itself.
The delegation comprised social activists, political leaders, and representatives from various organizations, including Vishwas Utagi, Feroze Mithiborwala, Nuruddin Naik, Comrade Ravi Joshi, M A Khalid, Dhananjay Shinde, Dr. Salim Khan, Guddi S L, and Farouk Mapkar.
They strongly condemned "Israel's" recent aggression against Iran while affirming Tehran's legitimate right to self-defense, and expressed unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people in their resistance against the Zionist Israeli aggression as well as US hegemony.
During the meeting, Consul General Mohseni Fard stated that Iran had delivered a strong retaliation by successfully striking over 150 strategic and military targets in "Israel", and highlighted the significant achievement of destroying two advanced US-made F-35 fighter jets using domestically developed surface-to-air missiles, dealing a substantial blow to US military dominance. He also emphasized that "Israel's" military actions received support from the United States, the United Kingdom, and other NATO member nations.
The Consul General noted the deep-rooted historical connections between India and Iran, while expressing the mutual goodwill shared between the two nations and stressing the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations.
This comes as part of a worldwide series of condemnations for the Israeli aggression on Iran, which has derailed nuclear talks with the United States and risks further instability in the region.
International condemnations of 'Israel' pour in
On June 14, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued a strong condemnation of "Israel's" recent attacks on Iran, characterizing them as both an infringement on Iran's sovereignty and an escalation that jeopardizes stability across the region and the global security framework.
The organization released a statement asserting that "Israel's" military actions constitute a violation of Iran's sovereignty while simultaneously contributing to instability in regional and international security structures.
Also, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Iran on Saturday, characterizing it as a "criminal assault on the people of Iran that violates international law and the United Nations Charter, and threatens the Middle East with a dangerous escalation whose consequences are unknown."
Cuba's Foreign Ministry condemned "Israel's" strikes on Iran as a breach of international law and sovereignty, warning that the US and "Israel" must bear responsibility for escalating tensions through unjustified military aggression, echoing broader global concerns about the destabilizing consequences of these actions.
