Newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) Eyal Zamir has reportedly decided to relieve the military's spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, of his duties in the coming weeks.
According to the Israeli Channel 14, Zamir has made the decision to replace Hagari, with a ground forces combat officer expected to take over the role soon.
This move follows a series of resignations within the Israeli military's public relations sector. In March 2024, several high-ranking officials stepped down, including Colonel Shlomit Miller Botbol, who was the second-in-command in the spokesperson's unit.
Other notable resignations included Moran Katz, head of the communications division, and Lieutenant Richard Hecht, who was responsible for foreign media relations.
Prior to his appointment as the military's chief spokesperson, Hagari commanded Shayetet 13, an elite naval unit. He also served as the office manager for then-IOF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz from 2012 to 2014 and as an assistant to Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot from 2016 to 2019.
Israeli media outlets have previously reported on the instability within the military following a wave of resignations. Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was the first to step down, triggering further departures among senior ranks.
One of the most significant resignations came from the head of the Operations Directorate, Oded Basiuk, who left his post after the military's failure to prevent the October 7 operation.
