Syrian media reported on Sunday that Israeli occupation forces launched a ground incursion into the town of al-Rafid, located in the southern countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria. The incursion, carried out by Israeli soldiers in three four-wheel-drive military vehicles, lasted for several hours before the forces withdrew toward the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Israeli military presence in al-Rafid was visible throughout the morning, further intensifying the already fragile security situation in the area.
In a related development, the Israeli occupation army announced that it had carried out a drone strike against the village of Beit Jann, also in southern Syria, without providing additional details on the nature of the target or the extent of the damage.
The drone attack marks a continuation of aerial assaults launched from the occupied territories, as "Israel" increases its military activity across the southern Syrian border.
Increased military activity in Quneitra, Jaba Village
Israeli tanks crossed into the outskirts of the village of Jaba on Saturday, located in the central countryside of Quneitra. The occupation forces opened heavy fire toward Syrian territory during the incursion. No casualties were reported.
The tanks withdrew shortly after the attack, retreating once again into the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. The incident occurred amid heightened reconnaissance activity by Israeli drones and surveillance aircraft in the area’s skies.
The recent incursions and attacks are part of a broader pattern of repeated violations by Israeli occupation forces in the Quneitra Governorate. Surveillance operations and military movements have intensified in recent weeks, raising concerns about further escalations in southern Syria.
The incidents underscore the volatility of the border region, where "Israel" continues to carry out strikes and ground operations in violation of Syrian sovereignty.
Syrians expel Israeli patrol in Quneitra
Late last month, residents of the village of Ruwayhina in the central countryside of Quneitra forced an Israeli patrol to retreat after it entered the village and reportedly harassed civilians, according to SOHR. The incident reflects a continuing wave of public rejection of the Israeli occupation’s presence in southern Syria.
According to the report, the patrol provoked immediate anger among the residents by stopping passersby, leading to crowds throwing stones at Israeli vehicles and tearing down an Israeli flag from one of the military vehicles. The encounter underscored the rising local tension in the wake of repeated Israeli incursions in the region.
The intrusion into Ruwayhina follows a recent string of similar operations by Israeli forces across the Quneitra and western Daraa countryside.
