An Israeli soldier was critically wounded on Sunday afternoon in a car-ramming operation near the village of Jit, along the road connecting Nablus and Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank, Israeli media reported.
Israeli occupation forces opened fire on the Palestinian driver, killing him instantly, according to Israeli media.
Israeli accounts of the incident differed, with some reports claiming the soldier was injured in the ramming itself, while others say he was struck by bullets fired by a Palestinian gunman shooting with precision from a speeding vehicle.

Recent operations
The latest incident comes amid a surge of Palestinian Resistance operations across the occupied territories in recent weeks.
On September 8, two fighters carried out a shooting attack at the Ramot Junction in occupied al-Quds, killing seven settlers and injuring at least 21 others. The operation, described by Israeli media as "Black Monday," was later claimed by the al-Qassam Brigades.
Just days later, on September 11, a stabbing operation took place inside a hotel in the illegal Israeli settlement of Kibbutz Tzova, west of al-Quds, leaving one person critically injured.
Israeli expansion in the West Bank
The operations unfold against the backdrop of intensified Israeli land grab and settlement expansion policies, in addition to settler and soldiers' attacks against Palestinian civilians. In 2025 alone, "Israel" issued more than 40 military seizure orders, declaring over 25,800 dunums as so-called "state land", surpassing the previous year’s record.
Alongside land grabs, occupation authorities have carried out widespread demolitions across Palestinian towns and villages, exacerbating displacement and economic hardship, alongside the daily raids, arrests, and killings.
