The Iranian president and Iraqi prime minister sign 14 memorandums of understanding across several sectors.
The Republic of Iraq welcomed on Wednesday the newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during his first official foreign visit, which has been described as highly significant.
The visit included the signing of several bilateral agreements between the two nations across multiple sectors.
In a joint press conference with Pezeshkian in Baghdad, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced that the two countries signed 14 memorandums of understanding.
Regarding the Israeli war on Gaza, al-Sudani emphasized that it poses a serious threat to regional stability. He firmly rejected any expansion of the war or violations of state sovereignty, referring to the Israeli assassination of Hamas' politburo chief martyr Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities for that matter.
