Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Muslim nations to employ active diplomacy and unified pressure to halt the ongoing genocidal war waged by "Israel" against the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a phone call held on Wednesday with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian emphasized the urgency of collective Islamic action to counter "Israel’s" atrocities.
"The atrocities committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza are unacceptable to any free human being," Pezeshkian said, calling on Islamic nations to respond with cohesion, unity, and responsibility. "Active diplomacy and coordinated pressure are needed to stop these crimes."
The Iranian president reaffirmed Iran’s unwavering support for the oppressed Palestinian nation, calling on other Islamic states to adopt a firmer and more active stance in solidarity with the people of Palestine and Gaza.
"Collective efforts will be very effective in confronting the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza," he stated.
Referencing the recent 12-day war against Iran by the Israeli occupation, Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic is being punished for standing up for Palestinians. "We are blamed for defending the oppressed people of Palestine and their human rights," he said. "The arrogant powers of the world consider this wrong, and that is why they pressure us."
He also expressed Iran’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Malaysia in all sectors.
'Malaysia committed to ending genocide in Gaza': Anwar Ibrahim
On his part, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned "Israel’s" ongoing aggression in Gaza, reiterating Malaysia’s firm opposition to the war.
"The Malaysian government has issued a strong statement against Israel's crimes in Gaza and is pursuing extensive diplomatic efforts to stop the genocide," Ibrahim said. He added: "We hope that with the cooperation and assistance of other Islamic countries, we can stop these crimes."
Ibrahim also stressed Kuala Lumpur’s desire to deepen ties with Tehran and accepted Pezeshkian’s invitation to visit Iran, affirming the Malaysian people’s respect for the Islamic Republic.
Backed by the United States, the Israeli regime has waged a devastating war on Gaza since the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023. To date, more than 60,000 Palestinians have been martyred, and over 150,000 injured, according to health officials in Gaza.
The majority of the victims are women and children, as "Israel" continues to indiscriminately bomb homes, schools, mosques, and even tents sheltering displaced civilians. "Israel’s" brutal campaign has decimated Gaza’s infrastructure, plunged the enclave into famine, and triggered widespread starvation and disease, with humanitarian aid systematically blocked.
