Iran, Syria FMs condemn Western support for Israeli crimes in Gaza
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi denounce the genocidal Israeli policies and crimes against the Palestinian people.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi criticized Western policies, especially those of the United States, for supporting Israeli crimes and failing to take serious measures to halt the atrocities in the Gaza Strip.
In a phone conversation on Friday, the two ministers condemned the disregard for the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, which stands in stark contrast to the principles of international law, human rights, and the Palestinian right to life, liberation, and the establishment of an independent state.
Mekdad and Araghchi also denounced the genocidal policies and crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people, which persist without any deterrent.
During the conversation, Mekdad congratulated Araghchi on his appointment as the new foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and conveyed greetings from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The top diplomats emphasized the importance of further advancing and strengthening the strategic relations between Syria and Iran.
Mekdad highlighted the significance of the new Iranian leadership's commitment to improving relations between Iran and neighboring countries.
Elsewhere, both ministers agreed to continue coordinating their positions on regional issues, particularly in their support for the Palestinian people in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and occupied al-Quds.
