Iran adds new missile-equipped UAVs to its Air Defense Force
In its most recent addition, Iran's Army Air Defense Force was equipped with dozens of Karrar drones with air-to-air Majid missiles.
In its most recent addition, Iran's Army Air Defense Force was equipped with dozens of Karrar drones with air-to-air Majid missiles. The UAV was revealed in a ceremony at Khatam Al-Anbia Air Defense Academy in Tehran on Sunday, with several senior military commanders and Iranian officials in attendance.
The significance of the missile-equipped Karrar drones lies in their ability to intercept and confront airborne objects as well as hostile targets. They effectively demonstrated their capabilities during a comprehensive drone exercise conducted by the Iranian Army in October.
During the ceremony, the Chief Commander of the Iranian Army, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, stated that this addition upgrades the strength of the Iranian Air Defense Force. “Today, the Army meets its own needs through the cooperation of its scientists with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and knowledge-based companies. This is because strengthening the defense power across land, sea, and air borders is an inseparable principle of the Army,” he said.
Mousavi then addressed Iran's enemies, advising them to reconsider their aerial combat strategies as Iran possesses the upper hand in the field, “Enemies oppose Iran's power… Experience has proven that our power drives the enemy to despair,” he emphasized.
The invention and success of the Karrar drones were attributed to Iran's youth, the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard, said, adding that it was a "great achievement" after year-round efforts. “Unmanned aircraft and drones are not comparable to manned ones in terms of price, and we can perform the operations that a manned aircraft does with completely Iranian and indigenous drones and use its capabilities at a much lower price,” Sabahifard added.
Karrar Kamikaze UAV equipped with Majid air-to-air missile has been delivered en masse to Iran's air defence forces.

He emphasized, "Today, we possess missiles known as 'Israel-hitting missiles,' as their primary purpose is to target the occupied territories."
The General explained that these missiles were developed by Iranian experts in response to existing threats and are named after the late General Qassem Soleimani. They are referred to as "Israeli-hitting missiles."
