New hypersonic missiles will inflict 'heavy costs' on 'Israel': IRGC
Iran's IRGC deputy commander for operations says the Fattah hypersonic missile has been dedicated to beat the Israeli occupation's anti-missile systems.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Deputy Commander for Operations, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforooshan, revealed plans for new domestic hypersonic missiles that will impose "heavy costs" on the Israeli occupation.
Nilforooshan told the Iranian news agency Tasnim that Iran has limited the range of its missiles to 2,000 kilometers in accordance with the orders of Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, based on the country's operational doctrines and in light of enemy threats.
He did, however, point out that Iran would improve the range of its missiles if necessary, adding that his country is currently in the process of boosting the quality and capabilities of its missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers.
Referring to the Fattah hypersonic missile, which was presented in June, Nilforooshan explained that the missile that can move at a speed of Mach 14 to 15 has been dedicated to beat the Israeli occupation's anti-missile systems that Iran has full knowledge about.
The Brigadier General made it clear that Fattah and Iran's other new hypersonic missiles in development would impose significant damage on "Israel", pointing out that the time has come for the Israeli occupation's anti-missile systems to retire, as per Tasnim.
"I’m telling you with confidence that the Zionist regime’s missile defense systems are obsolete in confrontation with this [Fattah] missile," Nilforooshan stressed.
According to Nilforooshan, the Iranian hypersonic missile is being mass-produced.
He further said following Fattah's unveiling, the Israelis claimed to have an anti-hypersonic missile system, but this was a "sheer bluff and psychological operation."
In late June, IRGC Aerospace Force's commander General Amir Ali Hajizadeh noted that the range of the Fattah hypersonic missile could increase by over 42%, from 1,400 km to 2,000 km.
"Fattah is a hypersonic missile with a range of 1400 km. However, the range of the missile can be increased to 2000 km," Hajizadeh indicated.
In early June, the IRGC unveiled Fattah, which is capable of bypassing advanced air defense systems.

Fattah, whose name was chosen by Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has a 1,400 km range and is characterized by a very high speed and the ability to maneuver against air defenses.
It is noteworthy that Fattah's warhead enjoys a spherical engine that runs on solid fuel and includes a moveable nozzle that allows the missile to move in all directions.
Israeli media considered that Iran has turned into a superpower with weapons after it unveiled its new Fattah hypersonic missile.
The Israeli Maariv newspaper also considered the Iranian unveiling of the Fattah hypersonic missile as a message to "Israel".
