Iran capable of boosting hypersonic missile Fattah range by over 40%
The commander of IRGC Air Force says Fattah's range could increase from 1,400 km to 2,000 km.
The range of the recently-unveiled homemade Fattah hypersonic missile could increase by over 42 percent, from 1,400 km to 2,000 km, IRGC Aerospace Force's commander General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said on Thursday.
"Fattah is a hypersonic missile with a range of 1400 km. However, the range of the missile can be increased to 2000 km," he announced.
Hajizadeh stressed that identifying the enemy does not require going back in history to the pre-revolution era and the US-backed coup d'état in 1953.

"Rather, in this more than forty years after the revolution, if the history of the revolution is studied, then the enmity of the US and Britain is clear," he said in an address at Babolsar University in Mazadnaran Province.
Emphasizing Iran's self-sufficiency in talent and capability to tackle challenges and develop its industries, including defense production, the general highlighted that the Islamic Republic was able to reach landmark achievements despite sanctions and pressures.
"Today we have achieved all the complicated technologies in the field of the defense industry, so we can solve problems in other fields such as industry and agriculture, which are much simpler."
Hajizadeh also stressed that solving Iran's internal problems requires recognizing the enemies and not laying trust in them.
The commander praised Iran's foreign relations breakthroughs, such as the revived ties with Saudi Arabia and the resolving of issues related to the nuclear program with the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA.
Fattah was revealed earlier this month by the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Revolution Guard Corps IRGC Major General Hossein Salami.
The hypersonic missile, whose name was chosen by Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, is characterized by a very high speed reaching up to 15 Mach and the ability to maneuver against air defenses.
Israeli experts, who have gone over the footage and photos of Fattah, said it raises more questions than answers them regarding Iran's military capabilities, the Israeli Zaman newspaper reported
The questions are regarding the missile's ability to strike the Israeli occupation within 400 seconds and bypass the most sophisticated anti-missile systems. "The new missile (Fattah) is a cause for concern," as per Israeli media.
